With the most exciting film of the year (decade?) now just two months away, French genre mag Mad Movies has run a preview of It, splashing a new pic of Bill Skarsgård as Pennywise across their cover. It’s not vastly different from ones we’ve already seen, but any new It news is big news, right?
It: Part 1 – The Losers’ Club hits cinemas on September 8th, with a recently confirmed R-rating in the States. It stars Jaeden Lieberher, Sophia Lillis, Jack Dylan Grazer, Wyatt Oleff, Chosen Jacobs, Jeremy Ray Taylor and Finn Wolfhard as the young friends who do battle with Skarsgård’s Pennywise. Nicholas Hamilton plays emotionally damaged bully Henry Bowers, with Owen Teague as his animal-killing comrade Patrick Hockstetter, whose sociopathic nature makes Henry seem positively well-balanced.
The first film in the two-film adaptation of Stephen King’s epic 1986 novel will focus on The Losers’ Club as children as they take on the ancient evil in clown guise, with the second film depicting the friends reuniting as adults to kill off the entity once and for all. Part 1 sees Stranger Things’ Wolfhard again sent back to the ‘80s, bringing forward the narrative from the book, which began in the 1950s. Mama helmer Andrés Muschietti directs.
