The shark flick Meg was originally slated to be released in March 2018, but now it is being reported that film is set to emerge from the depths in the summer of 2018 with the release now set for 10th August 2018. Perhaps Warner Bros are following in Sony’s footsteps as they released The Shallows on 12th August 2016 and that shark-fused horror soared at the box office, making an impressive $119 million worldwide on a $17 million budget.
Shark films are made for the summer, so we’re pleased that Meg is now sitting with a more suitable release date, even if it means we’re going to have to wait a further 5 months to see it.
Meg is based on the novel written by Steve Alten and was original set to be directed by Eli Roth. However, the directing reigns were eventually handed to Jon Turteltaub (Cool Runnings, National Treasure). Meg stars Jesssica McNamee (The Loved Ones), Bingbing Li (Resident Evil: Retribution), Ruby Rose (Orange is the New Black) and Rainn Wilson (House of 1000 Corpses, Super, Cooties).
Meg will be released on 10th August 2018.
