It was recently announced that there would be an addition to the Predator franchise and, despite rumours circling that it would be a reboot; it’s actually going to be a direct sequel to the 1987 Arnie-starrer.
I’m sure not many of you are excited by this news, as the previous films that have featured Predator have been, well, not brilliant. However, this new sequel has Shane Black on-board and he’s got a couple of great films to his name: Iron Man 3 and Kiss Kiss Bang Bang. Obviously, they are very different to Predator, BUT we have to look on the bright side, right? Right.
Fred Dekker will be writing the screenplay and he’s got some horror on his CV: House, Night of the Creeps and Night of the Creeps. Black and Dekker’s (Black and Decker, geddit? I’ll show myself out) combined experience in action and horror sounds like a great recipe for a Predator sequel, so count me in.
Producer John Davis says that the team could “reinvent the franchise” and that could go either way, honestly. There is no news on story details or when the film will begin production, but keep your eyes peeled for more as it comes.
