It’s been less than a year since Evil Dead Rise tore up the box-office and brought the series back. Producer Sam Raimi promised soon after that he has every intention of keeping the franchise alive, and we wouldn’t have to wait another decade for more content.

Now, Raimi has kept true to his word, along with his promise that Evil Dead would be a vehicle for up-and-coming filmmakers. Sébastien Vaniček, the French filmmaker behind this year’s Infested has been hired by Raimi’s Ghost House Pictures to create an Evil Dead spin-off film.

Details are being kept firmly under wraps, so we know very little at this point other than the project will not be direct sequel to Rise.

Following his appointment on the project, Vaniček opened up about how he pitched his idea to the studio:
“I told the studio that I wanted to make a nasty film, a film that hurts, from which you come away tested,” Vaniček revealed. “I’m going to put all the horror I have inside, it will be cathartic, and if I haven’t ruined my career and I can continue to make films behind it, I will move on to something other than horror!”

So, when can we expect this mysterious spin-off project? Vaniček further elaborated:
“If all goes well, we could start filming at the end of 2024-beginning of 2025, for a release that I hope for Halloween 2025.”

Promising news for the future of Evil Dead, and we hope it continues with a sequel to Rise soon. Stay tuned for more updates on this intriguing spin-off tale.
