It’s been almost two years since Paramount Pictures announced a sequel to 2019’s hit creature-feature Crawl.
The Alexandre Aja directed flick saw alligators swarm a Florida suburb during a Category 5 hurricane. Made for a modest $12 million, Crawl became a surprise hit, grossing over $90 million worldwide.
Since the 2024 sequel announcement, further updates on a sequel have remained sparse… until now.
It has been confirmed that actors Mason Gooding and Emily Rudd will headline Crawl 2.
Gooding is best known for his role as Chad Meeks-Martin in the past three Scream movies, whilst Rudd has similar horror cachet, headlining 2021’s Fear Street trilogy.
Filming is expected to get underway on this sequel in the coming weeks, with production taking place in Hungary.
Crawl 2 will move the action from Florida to New York City. A reliable source tells us the plot will see the iconic location partially flooded and beset by vicious alligators.
Original director Alexandre Aja will return to helm the sequel, working from a script co-written by Andrew Deutschman and Jason Pagan.
Crawl 2 is currently without a release date, but reliable sources suggest the movie could hit screens as early as next summer.
