Move over, Jason, because it’s Ghostface’s turn to take Manhattan. That’s right: Scream 6 will officially take place in New York City!
This news comes off the back of Courteney Cox confirming that she’ll return as Gale Weathers for the sequel. In this year’s Scream, we learned that Gale had moved to New York to host a morning show, so this new setting seems like a natural place to take the story next.
In Scream 6, the four survivors of the Ghostface killings (played by Melissa Barrera, Jasmin Savoy Brown, and Jenna Ortega) leave Woodsboro behind and start a fresh chapter. The cast will also include Hayden Panettiere (Scream 4), Dermot Mulroney (Umma), Jack Champion (The Night Sitter), Liana Liberato (The Beach House), Devyn Nekoda (Ghostwriter), and Josh Segarra (Arrow).
Scream’s Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillet are returning to direct the sixth instalment in the franchise, reuniting with writers James Vanderbilt and Guy Busick. The film is slated to slash into theatres on March 31st, 2023.
