Martin Scorsese is hoping to roar back into theatres this coming fall with his newest project Killers of the Flower Moon.
The director’s next offering is based upon the book Killers of the Flower Moon: The Osage Murders and the Birth of the FBI. The film will detail the murders of at least twenty wealthy Osage people that shook Osage County, Oklahoma in the early 1920s.
Starring in Scorsese’s latest work will be his frequent collaborators Robert De Niro and Leonardo DiCaprio as convicted murderer William Hale and the pardoned Ernest Burkhart.
Alongside these cast heavyweights, recent Academy Award Winner Brendan Fraser will join a strong ensemble cast including John Lithgow, Jesse Plemons and Jack White.
One of the most expensive productions Paramount Pictures has ever distributed, Scorsese reached out to Apple TV in a bid to share the costs. This will mark the highest profile venture of the still relatively new Apple Films.
Costing a whopping $200 million and clocking in at 3 hours and 20 minutes, Killers of the Flower Moon is certainly a gamble for all involved.
This historical thriller will release to audiences at large on October 6th 2023 following a May 20th premiere at the Cannes Film Festival.
We will keep an eye on box-office numbers and report any significant developments.
