“I’ve been preparing for this for years!”
With Scream 7 making a killing all over the world, it’s the perfect time to get our first look at the sixth Scary Movie entry.
In the first trailer for the horror spoof’s newest instalment, we’re told in no uncertain terms that nothing is off limits.
Explicitly parodying the recent rash of legacy sequels, Scary Movie takes aim at 2018’s Halloween and 2022’s Scream.
Anna Faris returns as protagonist Cindy Campbell, now a frazzled survivalist in a parody of Halloween’s Jamie Lee Curtis.
With the return of the Ghostface killer from 2000, Cindy’s worst fears appear to come true. Reconnecting with fellow survivors Brenda and Shorty Meeks, Cindy pledges to take the killer down and save her daughter.
Aside from Scream and Halloween, the Scary Movie trailer can also be seen parodying the likes of Longlegs, Weapons, Sinners, Terrifier, Smile, and The Substance.
The trailer keeps us in the dark as to how all these parodies will tie together, undoubtedly ensuring audiences will turn up at the theatres.
Alongside Faris, Scary Movie also stars returning cast members Regina Hall, Shawn Wayans, Marlon Wayans, Dave Sheridan, Cheri Oteri, Jon Abrahams, Loclyn Munro, and Chris Elliott.
Following the enthusiastic response to the trailer, Paramount Pictures moved Scary Movie’s release date forward by one week.
The movie will hit screens on June 5th, and we’ll let you know if it has audiences rolling in the aisles.
