After over twenty years of PG-13 rated outings, Scary Movie is finally back to its offensive best.
As per the MPA, the sixth instalment of the legendary franchise has been rated “R” for:
“Crude sexual content, graphic nudity, strong violence, and drug content and language throughout.”
Well, the team promised that “every line will be crossed…” It seems they were right! This is the first entry in the series to achieve an R rating since 2001’s Scary Movie 2.
Scary Movie is set to target requels, reboots, legacy sequels, and elevated horror. Movies set to be parodied include Halloween, Scream, Longlegs, Smile, Sinners, and Weapons among others.
Original creative team The Wayans Brothers have returned, alongside legacy cast members including Anna Faris, Regina Hall, Marlon Wayans, Shawn Wayans, and Chris Elliott.
Michael Tiddes directs the reboot, from a script by Marlon, Shawn, and Kenan Wayans.
The movie will release on June 5th 2026, and is expected to do quite well at the box-office.
