“SAW XI” DELAYED ONE YEAR BY LIONSGATE

Posted on: April 17th, 2024

“I want to play a game…”

Well, you’ll just have to wait, Billy!

In the first of a series of horror updates we have for you from Lionsgate, we bring you the unfortunate news that the eleventh Saw instalment has been delayed a year.

Originally set to premiere September 27th 2024, Saw XI will now trap audiences on September 25th 2025.

Although this sounds like such a long way away, the announcement comes with the assurance from all involved that the delay is to ensure “the best experience possible for fans.”

Interestingly, the date change hasn’t come as much of a surprise to fans. Given the lack of updates, including the absence of a shooting date, it was suspected things weren’t quite ready. With the project less that six months away from its release date, the expectation was that something was about to change.

The news comes just as Lionsgate prepared to present their slate at 2024’s Cinema-Con convention, unveiling their release roster for the year ahead.

Saw XI is easily one of the most anticipated entries in the series’ storied history. Following the critically lauded Saw X, which trapped an impressive $110 million at the box-office, audiences are understandably hungry for more.

Currently, all we know is that Kevin Greutert will be returning to direct, the film will “likely be a direct sequel” to the previous entry, though Peter Goldfinger and Josh Stolberg will not be returning to pen the script. However, given the long delay, all of this is now subject to change.

More games are still afoot, we’ll just have to wait a while… Sorry, Billy.
