The game continues…
Lionsgate and Twisted Pictures surprised everyone this past week with the announcement of an eleventh Saw entry.
In a social media post, all three shared an image of Roman Numerals communicating that the eleventh Saw film would hit theatres on September 27th 2024.
This is absolutely no surprise, despite the unexpected timing of the announcement, given the reception to Saw X.
Despite so much going against it, not least being the tenth entry, but also a last-minute release date change and not topping the US box-office, Saw X became a monstrous success.
In a rare turn of events for the Saw series, Saw X was a critical darling, with praise given to the writing, character development and the performances. Audiences agreed, with the tenth entry becoming the first to crack $100 million at the box-office in six years.
Given all these positive factors, of course there was going to be a sequel.
However, we know precious little in terms of details. Chiefly if Saw XI will be another prequel that will once again focus on the hijinks of John Kramer between movies. All we know for sure is that an eleventh Saw chapter is coming, and it will reach us on September 27th 2024, exactly one year after the previous entry.
Given the huge appetite for Saw at the current time, we will assuredly keep a close eye on this one for any further developments.
