SAW X REVEALS FIRST LOGO

Posted on: May 4th, 2023

Jigsaw is coming back and the games are set to begin once more.

Cinema-Con offered up endless treats for horror fans this past week, and some unexpected surprises too. A logo for the upcoming tenth entry in the Saw franchise was a treat that no one anticipated during the Lionsgate showcase.

Returning the franchise font everyone is familiar with, the new logo seems to confirm that the tenth entry will go back-to-basics. We already know that the film is returning to the story of Jigsaw serial killer John Kramer after attempting a spin-off approach with 2021’s Spiral: From the Book of Saw. The Kevin Hart starring vehicle performed poorly at the box-office, prompting this soft reboot approach for the upcoming entry.

To that end, the studio has assembled a team of familiar faces to bring the series back to its roots. Tobin Bell will reprise his role as John Kramer for the first time since 2017. Alongside Bell, Shawnee Smith is set to return as Jigsaw protégée Amanda Young. Joining the returnees is a cast of new faces for the series, including Steven Brand, Michael Beach, and Paulette Hernandez in undisclosed roles.

Long time saw editor Kevin Greutert has taken the director’s chair once more, having previously directed Saw VI and Saw 3-D. Franchise producer Mark Burg is also on board, but word is still out if series creator James Wan will produce alongside. Josh Stolberg, writer of 2017’s Jigsaw and 2021’s Spiral has also returned to pen the script.

Production on Saw X wrapped last October after two months of shooting in Mexico City, Mexico. The film is set to release on October 27th 2023, just in time for Halloween, with a trailer expected this summer.
