Last week we brought you news of Netflix’s upcoming suburban cannibal comedy drama series Santa Clarita Diet, which stars Drew Barrymore and Timothy Olyphant. During the Golden Globes telecast over the weekend, the first teaser was premiered, and it promises Barrymore at her comedic best, espousing the benefits of the diet that “…satisfies all your cravings, and you can eat whoever you want!”
Barrymore and Scream 2/The Crazies star Olyphant play married realtors Sheila and Joel, whose routine lives in the titular LA suburb change dramatically when they discover the beneficial effects of eating human flesh. Liv Hewson co-stars as Sheila and Joel’s teenage daughter Abby, along with Richard T. Jones (Godzilla, American Horror Story), Terry Walters (La La Land), Mary Elizabeth Ellis (It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia) and Z Nation’s Ramona Young.
Joel (Olyphant) and Sheila (Barrymore) are husband and wife realtors leading vaguely discontented lives in the L.A. suburb of Santa Clarita with their teenage daughter, Abby, until Sheila goes through a dramatic change, sending their lives down a road of death and destruction… but in a good way.
Barrymore and Olyphant also act as executive producers on the Netflix production, alongside Aaron Kaplan, Tracy Katsky, Chris Miller, Ember Truesdell and Showrunner Victor Fresco (Better Off Ted).
Season 1 of Santa Clarita Diet will be available in full from February 3rd.
