SAM RAIMI ADDRESSES EVIL DEAD FRANCHISE’S FUTURE

Posted on: January 5th, 2020

It was previously announced that Sam Raimi was working on a new instalment of the Evil Dead franchise, with a new filmmaker at the helm. Bruce Campbell said he wouldn’t be appearing as Ash and that he has retired the character altogether, and that’s about as much as we knew about the project.

But in a recent Ask-Me-Anything chat on Reddit, Raimi revealed a few more tantalising details about the film—and the future of the franchise as a whole.

“Bruce, Rob [Tapert] and I are working with a young filmmaker who is writing a new Evil Dead story that he will direct,” he said. “As for me… I would love to direct a new Evil Dead movie… but I’d really like to do it with Bruce. And he says he’s retired the character. I hope not.”

Raimi also commented on the potential of a sequel to Fede Alvarez’s superb 2013 remake, saying: “If Fede would write or direct it, yes, in a split second!”
