“If we don’t fight back, they’ll come for us…”
With less than a month to go until it’s October 3rd premiere date, Max have given us the first trailer for their long-suffering Salem’s Lot adaption.
After two years on the shelf, the new adaption of Stephen King’s classic novel is set to debut direct-to-streaming just in time for the spooky season.
Looking like the perfect pre-Halloween treat, Salem’s Lot is shrouded in an atmosphere of dread, with dark visuals and faithful recreations of moments from King’s novel.
Starring Lewis Pullman and Alfre Woodard, the movie follows writer Ben Mears as he returns to his titular home town. However, following the arrival of a sinister figure in town, things start to grow ever more unsettling, becoming apparent the town’s population are being preyed on by a vampiric entity.
Dripping with terror, the trailer has received widespread praise, primarily toward director Gary Dauberman’s visual style. The fog-shrouded world we see in the clip has prompted many to bemoan the fact that Warner Bros have skipped a theatrical release following a very troubled production.
With some calling Salem’s Lot potentially the best King adaption since 2017’s It, it is possible Warner Bros have missed out on quite the money-maker here.
Regardless, the clip has genre fans on side, and we predict that Salem’s Lot will be quite the streaming success for Max. However, if you’re from the UK or Ireland, you still have the chance to see this reboot on the big screen!
Beginning October 11th, Salem’s Lot will have a limited theatrical run in both countries, so be sure to check your local listings to see if you have a participating theatre nearby!
