Things appear to be progressing rapidly on Ryan Coogler’s reboot of The X-Files.
Last we heard, the Sinners filmmaker had secured Himesh Patel and Danielle Deadwyler for the lead roles. Furthermore, original stars Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny have addressed the reboot, saying there had been “discussions” about returns as Dana Scully and Fox Mulder.
However, now we have further exciting casting news.
Fresh off her Best Supporting Actress Oscar win, Weapons star Amy Madigan has been announced as one of eight guest stars for the reboot.
Alongside Madigan, genre favourite and prolific character actor Steve Buscemi is also aboard the reboot.
30 Days of Night star Ben Foster also joins the cast roster, alongside Scary Movie alum Lochlyn Munro.
Currently, it remains unknown if all of these actors will appear in just the pilot. However, given the vast number of names, that sounds unlikely. So, Hulu undoubtedly have faith in Coogler’s reboot, and intend to shoot multiple episodes.
Of course, we don’t yet know any solid plot details, only that Patel and Deadwyler will play two vastly different FBI agents tasked with reopening the x-files.
How Anderson and Duchovny will figure into the reboot also remains unknown, but it is highly likely they will return in a recurring capacity.
So, The X-Files looks to be roaring back to life faster than we anticipated.
