Robert Kirkman’s Outcast gets Demonic New Trailer

Posted on: May 11th, 2016

Adam Wingard directs the pilot of Outcast, based on Robert Kirkman’s comic series, which premieres on Cinemax on June 3rd, with a second season already greenlit. The cable channel has released this new trailer, which gives a good idea of what horrors we can expect.

The show will tell the tale of Kyle Barnes, who has suffered from demonic possession his whole life. He seeks out the help of troubled preacher Reverend Anderson, and embarks on a journey for answers in an attempt to regain some stability in his life. What he uncovers however, will change not just his fate, but that of the entire world.

OutcastPosterGone Girl’s Patrick Fugit stars as Kyle Barnes, alongside Brit TV regular Philip Glenister (Life on Mars, Mad Dogs) who plays the tortured preacher Anderson. Boardwalk Empire’s Wrenn Schmidt will play Kyle’s sister Megan Holter, with David Denman (The Gift) as her cop husband Mark. The Wire’s Reg E. Cathey stars as Chief of Police Giles, a friend of Rev. Anderson and a believer in demons, while Gabriel Bateman (Annabelle) plays Joshua Austin, an 8-year-old who lives across town from Kyle, and who also appears to be in the grip of demonic possession.

Howie Deutch (The Great Outdoors) will take up directing duties from Wingard for episodes 2 and 3, having also helmed episodes of True Blood and American Horror Story. Time will tell if Outcast can touch the dizzying success of The Walking Dead, whose source material was also a Kirkman creation.
