RIP THE THING ACTOR WILFORD BRIMLEY

Posted on: August 2nd, 2020

We’re sad to report that Wilford Brimley has died at the age of 85. The actor had reportedly been sick for two months with a kidney condition. He passed away in hospital on Saturday.

Horror fans will best remember Brimley from John Carpenter’s The Thing, in which he played Blair, the biologist who prevents the others from escaping, leading them to lock him in the tool shed. The character later becomes assimilated by the Thing, leading to one of the film’s most memorable and terrifying monsters.

A spokesman for diabetes awareness, Brimley’s long-spanning career also included roles in Cocoon, Hard Target, and Progeny, as well as Quaker Oats commercials.
