We’re positive that many of you made a sigh of relief when the reboot of Gremlins ceased to exist. However, if any of you were slightly intrigued where the writers Damian Shannon and Mark Swift were going to go with the story reimagining, then you can have a gander at the first two pages of their rejected script below.
Without giving too much away, it takes a slightly dark and more action-packed route and even draws questions about time zones; how would this affect the iconic rule of not feeding the Mogwai after midnight? You can find out…a bit, anyway.
Obviously, the film was never going to soar to the heights of Joe Dante’s cult classic, but it would have been interesting to see Gremlins brought to the screens in a brand new way, especially for audiences who haven’t seen the original – if they even exist! Alas, we’ll just have to stick to the original series, and that’s definitely not a bad thing.
