Based on the novel Shrine by James Herbert, writer-director Evan Spiliotopoulos’s The Unholy has dropped a creepy trailer that questions whether angelic or satanic forces are at play.
Produced by Sam Raimi and Rob Tapert, the film follows Alice, a young, hearing-impaired girl who is inexplicably able to hear, speak, and heal the sick after a supposed visitation from the Virgin Mary. As word spreads and people from near and far flock to witness her miracles, a disgraced journalist hoping to revive his career visits the small New England town to investigate. But when terrifying events begin to happen all around, he starts to question if these phenomena are the works of the Virgin Mary or something much more sinister…
The Unholy boasts an impressive cast, including Jeffrey Dean Morgan (The Walking Dead), Cary Elwes (Saw), William Sadler (Tales from the Crypt: Demon Knight), Katie Aselton (Legion), and Cricket Brown. The film is set to hit theatres on April 2nd, and you can check out the new trailer below!
