The world of horror cinema continues to be one of the most surprising and all-encompassing places, where no subject is off-limits.
The most recent project to illustrate this is without a doubt Norwegian filmmaker Viljar Bøe’s latest offering Good Boy, which has just debuted an extremely intriguing trailer.
Described as “twisted and unsettling” and “gleefully fucked up,” Bøe delves into the world of “puppy play,” introducing us to a young man named Christian and his pet named Frank. Not just any ordinary dog, Frank is a full-grown man with an insistence on living as and being treated like a dog.
“Sigrid thinks she’s met her perfect match with the charming and handsome Christian, but there is one catch- he lives with a man who acts like his pet dog. Trying to be open-minded, Sigrid continues the relationship but soon notices an insidious under-tone to Christian. Maybe ‘puppy play’ isn’t as innocent as it seems.”
Promising a genuine sense of dread and unease, Good Boy hints that all may not be well with Frank, with Christian lamenting his pet’s “hard life” as he locks him into his cage. What’s in store for those around Frank…? You can check out the trailer below and get a taste for yourself.
Good Boy has made quite the splash whilst making the film festival rounds over the past year. Now you can check out just what a “good boy” Frank is for yourself when the film releases September 8th 2023, both in theatres and on-demand.
