With The Conjuring: Last Rites setting a world record and making half a billion dollars, we had to know that “final chapter” label wouldn’t last.
Development began on a prequel immediately following the opening weekend success of Last Rites. Soon afterward, we learned that the movie had been given the title The Conjuring: First Communion.
Fans had one burning question regarding the prequel… who would play the pivotal roles of Ed and Lorraine Warren?
Of course, actors Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson made the characters iconic, so any younger version would have a lot to live up to.
Now, official sources have confirmed that the leads for First Communion have been chosen.
Sources report actors Garrett Wareing and Amanda Fix have been cast as young Ed and Lorraine Warren.
Wareing has previously appeared in 2025’s Stephen King adaption The Long Walk, and currently stars in Ransom Canyon on Netflix.
Fix is best known for a 10-episode run on Orphan Black: Echoes, and will soon appear in Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma.
Rodrigue Huart has been chosen to direct The Conjuring: First Communion, from a script by Richard Naing & Ian Goldberg.
Plot details remain closely guarded, and will likely remain so for some time yet.
The Conjuring: First Communion is set to hit screens on September 10th 2027. We’ll let you know how the prequel goes over with audiences, stay tuned.
