Incarnate could be the twisty, refreshing possession horror we’ve been waiting for as it blends the supernatural with science, stepping away from the typical step of hiring an exorcist to expel the demon. But, does it look good? In terms of spectacle, it looks great. But, there are a heap of familiar possession/exorcism tropes hiding underneath its strive to be different.
Synopsis:
A scientist with the ability to enter the subconscious minds of the possessed must save a young boy from the grips of a demon with powers never seen before, while facing the horrors of his past.
Hopefully Incarnate will manage to steer away from too much predictability and be able to deliver something rarely seen. The cast is great and stars Aaron Eckhart, David Mazouz and Matt Nable. Perhaps most surprisingly, it comes from the director of the disaster flick San Andreas, Brad Peyton, but if you watch the action-packed trailer, you’ll realise it’s not so surprising after all.
Incarnate will be released in the USA on 2nd December 2016.
