Right on the heels of our tip about a fourth season of Monster, it appears Peacock want in on some of that true crime drama viewership.
As Monster begins to tackle infamous killers like Ed Gein and Lizzie Borden, Peacock are coming out of the gate swinging with John Wayne Gacy: Devil in Disguise.
Gacy is one of America’s most infamous serial killers, and a man who had everyone convinced he was a pillar of the community.
Seemingly friendly, hard-working, and even doubling as a children’s entertainer, John Wayne Gacy hid a dark secret. Between 1972 and 1978, Gacy murdered at least thirty young men, ranging from ages 13 to 30. His cookie-cutter home became the final resting place of several victims, as Gacy buried their bodies in his crawlspace.
In a short teaser for Devil in Disguise, Gacy’s “everyman” appeal is highlighted, as we see several normal looking rooms of a suburban home. However, someone is busy hammering beneath the home’s foundation, proving that you can never be sure what goes on behind closed doors.
Michael Chernus, star of the hit shows Severance and Orange is the New Black, portrays Gacy alongside a cast including Gabriel Luna, Marin Ireland, and Thom Nyhuus.
Devil in Disguise comes to us from showrunner Patrick Macmanus, who has previously produced the successful true crime-based dramas Dr Death and The Girl from Plainville.
All eight episodes of John Wayne Gacy: Devil in Disguise will premiere on Peacock on October 16th 2025.
