Filming has officially wrapped on the fifth instalment of the Insidious franchise, which will release in cinemas everywhere on the 7th of July, 2023.
The film doesn’t have an official title yet, though it was shot under the working title Fear the Dark. Patrick Wilson, who is reprising the role of Josh Lambert from the first two movies, also directed the film, marking his directorial debut. Rose Byrne and Ty Simpkins will also be back as Renai and Dalton Lambert respectively.
In Insidious 5, which is set 10 years after the second film: “Josh Lambert heads east to drop his son Dalton off at an idyllic, ivy-covered university. However, Dalton’s college dream becomes a nightmare when the repressed demons of his past suddenly return to haunt them both.”
Insidious 5 was written by Scott Teems (Halloween Kills) and based on a story by Leigh Whannell, who wrote all previous instalments. The most recent entry in the franchise, Insidious: The Last Key, was released in 2018.
