Eli Roth is directing a feature-length adaptation of Thanksgiving, the fake slasher trailer he made for 2007’s Grindhouse, and reports state that Patrick Dempsey (Scream 3, Grey’s Anatomy) is in talks to star!
The memorable faux trailer for Thanksgiving sees an uninvited guest terrorising the inhabitants of a Massachusetts town during their annual turkey day festivities. Scenes depicted in the trailer include a beheading at a parade, a knife piercing through a trampoline as a cheerleader does the splits, and a particularly unsavoury Thanksgiving table.
Jeff Rendell wrote the script for Thanksgiving, which is being produced by Spyglass Media. Deadline notes that “While the rest of the ensemble is expected to be a bunch of rising stars, Roth wanted a face front and center and thought Dempsey would be perfect given its not the typical role you usually see the former Grey’s Anatomy star in.”
Thanksgiving is set to begin filming in March. In addition to directing, Roth will produce alongside Roger Birnbaum.
