Universal is developing a new horror-thriller based on the iconic monster-slayer Van Helsing—and Julius Avery (Overlord) is on board to direct!
The character of Van Helsing last had his own solo movie back in 2004. That film was written and directed by Stephen Sommers and starred Hugh Jackman in the title role. Meanwhile, Kelly Overton stars as a descendant of the famous vampire hunter in Syfy’s ongoing fantasy-horror show Van Helsing.
Universal is keeping the logline for its new take strictly under wraps right now. Eric Pearson wrote the script for the film, which Avery is rewriting. James Wan is producing through his Atomic Monster banner, along with Michael Clear.
