If you attended Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios this year, you might have walked through the maze inspired by Jordan Peele’s Us. In the maze, you begin in the funhouse that Adelaide enters on the Santa Cruz boardwalk, walk through the Wilson’s house and witness the carnage at the Tyler home, and finally descend into the underground tunnels where the Tethered live.
The maze was a wonderfully faithful and atmospheric recreation of Peele’s movie. But some fans visiting Halloween Horror Nights in Hollywood got more than they bargained for recently when Lupita Nyong’o herself replaced one of the scare actors—reprising her chilling role as Red.
During her surprise appearance, Nyong’o donned the now-iconic red jumpsuit worn by the Tethered and recreated the classroom scene. While she was there, she also walked through the maze herself with her family and received plenty of good scares, joking “That’s the last time I’m making a horror film!”
If you didn’t catch Nyong’o in person, never fear—you can enjoy her performance in the video below.
