New Trailer for Most Likely to Die is a Throwback to ‘90s Slashers

Posted on: November 19th, 2015

poster_mostlikelytodieA new trailer has been released for Most Likely to Die from director Anthony DiBlasi (Dread, Last Shift). The film follows a group of High School friends whose fun-filled intentions are ruined when they are brutally killed one by one the night before their 10-year reunion. We will let you ponder how similar this sounds to 1986’s Slaughter High.

Films that look back fondly and nostalgically on slasher films of the past are all the rage at the moment. The TV series Scream proves that there is still a lot of love for Ghostface – even with a different mask – and The Final Girls shows that going ultra-meta can be a fun, refreshing and intelligent nod to ‘80s slasher flicks like Friday 13th.

Most Likely to Die looks to follow in these post-modern movies’ footsteps as it adds another self-referential slasher film in to the mix. Take a look at the trailer below and watch some more pretty young Americans get the deaths they deserve. It looks expectedly self-aware as its dialogue pokes fun at typical slasher tropes and the voiceover is almost painfully ‘90s.

Most Likely To Die stars Perez Hilton (Yep, that one), Chad Addison, Heather Morris, Jake Busey and Tess Christiansen.
