A Dark Song was one of our favourite films from The BFI London Film Festival in 2016, so we’re very excited to see the film get a release in the UK and the USA later this year. The film follows a woman and an occultist called Solomon as they perform a dangerous ritual that should allow her to contact her deceased son. What unfolds is an exceptional and frequently chilling occult tale that is unique and entirely gripping.
Check out the atmospheric trailer below, which shows the film’s stars Catherine Walker (Dark Touch, Versailles) and Steve Oram (Sightseers, Aaaaaaaah!) carrying out a ritual that involves drinking blood, starvation and following a set of important rules. Beginning slowly, the trailer mimics the film’s slow-burn approach that soon escalates into a full-blown nightmare, showing that evils that lurk in the dark corners of the empty house.
A Dark Song will be released in the UK this spring and will, hopefully, see a release in the USA this year from IFC Midnight, which acquired the rights to the film in November. You can read our 4-star review of the film here.
