Josh Boone, director of the upcoming horror-leaning X-Men spin-off The New Mutants, has confirmed that a new trailer for the film is coming January.
If you’re saying, “Wait, didn’t I already see a trailer?” then you’re not wrong. The original trailer was released in 2017, back when the film was supposed to hit theatres in early 2018. That didn’t happen, of course; between the Fox-Disney merger and differences of opinion between executives and the filmmakers, the film wound up on a shelf for two years.
But with the acquisition approved, it looks like Disney will finally dust off The New Mutants and release it in theatres on April 3rd, 2020—and Boone’s confirmation about the new trailer seems to back this timeline up.
The New Mutants will see five young mutants still discovering their abilities being held in a secret facility against their will. The cast includes Anya Taylor-Joy (The Witch, Split), Maisie Williams (Game of Thrones), Charlie Heaton (Stranger Things), Henry Zaga (Teen Wolf), Blu Hunt (The Originals), Alice Braga (I Am Legend), and Antonio Banderas (The Skin I Live In, Interview with the Vampire).
