New Poster and Image Gallery from Martyrs (2016)

Posted on: December 10th, 2015

Martyrs PosterIt’s a little over a month until the limited theatrical release of the Goetz Brothers’ Martyrs and we have a new poster and a heap of images to share with you.

The poster is surprisingly great as it embraces the infamous and shocking moment from the original film and drenches it in a vicious red to heighten the brutality of that scene, as well as the film as a whole.

The images are less inspiring. The original Martyrs embodied a stark and raw visual style as it told its subtly religious story about survival, however, the remake has opted to be a bit blunter. It’s impossible to ignore the godly lighting that rains down through the images, as well as having the “martyr’s fate” literally on a crucifix. It doesn’t look as if much is being left to the audience’s imagination with this one; maybe we’ll even find out what was whispered at the end…

Synopsis:
Ten-year-old Lucie flees from the isolated warehouse where she has been held prisoner. Deeply traumatised, she is plagued by awful night terrors at the orphanage that takes her in. Her only comfort comes from Anna, a girl her own age. Nearly a decade later and still haunted by demons, Lucie finally tracks down the family that tortured her. As she and Anna move closer to the agonising truth, they find themselves trapped in a nightmare – if they cannot escape, a martyr’s fate awaits them…

Martyrs receives its limited theatrical release on 22nd January 2016 in the USA, before being released on DVD, Blu-ray and VOD on 2nd February 2016.
