Just last week we learned that Rosemary’s Baby prequel Apartment 7A had garnered an R rating, whilst musing that it still didn’t have a release date.
However, now, not only do we have a definitive date, we’ve gotten our first look at the film through some brand-new images.
Taking place in 1965, Apartment 7A will tell the story of Terry Gionoffrio, an injured dancer with a drug problem. Her life seems to be turning around when she’s taken under the wing of the kindly Castevet’s. However, they have a very sinister motive behind their good deed.
Inventing Anna star Julia Garner will take the lead as Terry, whilst Dianne Wiest and Kevin McNally will portray Minnie and Roman Castevet.
The first-look stills show Garner sporting a brown wig with two distinctly different hairstyles. The most intriguing of the bunch shows Wiest’s Minnie trying to enter a locked apartment as Garner cowers behind the door.
From the images we can see brilliantly faithful recreations of the iconic Rosemary’s Baby apartment house, as well as some beautiful 1960s period detail.
Written and directed by Natalie Erika James, Apartment 7A is a co-production between Paramount Pictures and Platinum Dunes. The film is set to premiere on Paramount+ on September 27th 2024, with the studio promising it’ll be “the perfect treat for Halloween.”
A trailer is expected soon.
