With IFC Midnight’s release of Sean Byrne’s The Devil’s Candy now very close, a second art poster by illustrator Ken Taylor has been unveiled.
Byrne, who directed 2009’s The Loved Ones, both wrote and directed the film, which follows struggling artist and diehard metalhead Jesse, who moves his wife and daughter to a rural house in Texas with a dark past. Jesse’s paintings quickly take a turn for the demonic and Ray, the deranged son of the property’s former owner, returns to do the Devil’s bidding. The evil force that drives Ray soon takes hold of Jesse, and his family realise that they are not safe in their new lodgings.
Ethan Embry, who plays Jesse, has appeared in the likes of Disturbing Behaviour, They, Vacancy and, more recently, Cheap Thrills and The Walking Dead. Co-starring alongside Embry are Shiri Appleby (Swimfan, HBO’s Girls) as Jesse’s wife Astrid, Maps to the Stars’ Kiara Glasco as their daughter Zooey and Pruitt Taylor Vince (Natural Born Killers, Identity) as Ray.
The shit-kicking soundtrack features the likes of Pantera, Metallica and Slayer, with an original score from art-doom legends Sunn O))).
The Devil’s Candy will arrive in selected US cinemas and on VOD and digital platforms on March 17th.
