Prepare your hearts and get your tissues ready, because the release of A Monster Calls is just on the horizon. It isn’t very often that we get to write about tearjerker movies at Scream, but when J. A. Bayona, the director of The Orphanage, adapts a story about a walking monster, we’re going to grab the opportunity with both hands.
3 new clips have been released for A Monster Calls and they are powerful, emotional and touching. Just like the entire film itself, they embody a will to pull at your heart strings, but counter the emotions with some good old-fashioned destruction. The clips also show the film’s beautiful visual style that incorporates traditional live action and water colour-inspired animation.
It’s a glorious film and a must-see for those who enjoy light horror and exceptional drama. You can check out our 4-star review from LFF here.

Check out the clips below and be sure to go walking to A Monster Calls when it is unleashed on New Year’s Day in the UK and 6th January 2017 in the USA. The film is also showing at select US cinemas from 23rd December 2016.
