NEVE CAMPBELL WILL REPORTEDLY EXECUTIVE PRODUCE “SCREAM 7”

Posted on: March 5th, 2025

With Scream 7 entering its final weeks of principal photography, word reaches us that star Neve Campbell will be more involved than ever before.

Following Campbell’s highly-publicized departure from 2023’s Scream VI, it appears the higher-ups want to make her Scream 7 return very worthwhile.

A trusted source tells us that the actress is aboard the slasher sequel not only as its star, but also serving as an executive producer.

Of course, a movie’s star serving as an executive producer is commonplace today. However, Scream 7 will mark the first time Campbell has assumed the role in the long-running franchise.

Previously, franchise alum Courteney Cox served as an executive producer on 2023’s Scream VI, making her the first cast member to do so.

In a similar vein, Halloween star Jamie Lee Curtis received executive producer credits on all three of the most recent series entries.

Typically, a star serving as an executive producer ensures that they will have more creative input into the script and their character. Campbell has previously stated that getting Scream 7 and Sidney Prescott right was “vital” to her return. Consequently, it’s understandable why she’d want to keep a close eye on things.

Away from the creative side, a movie’s star serving as executive producer is also known to reap sizeable financial rewards. Known as a “backend deal,” this will ensure that an actor will receive a cut of the film’s final gross, typically between 5-10%. It was this deal that enabled Blumhouse to entice stars such as Ethan Hawke, Kevin Bacon, and the previously mentioned Curtis.

So, given Campbell’s disastrous salary negotiations during Scream Vi, are Spyglass Media Group finally going the extra mile to put things right?

Scream 7 is expected to wrap shooting on March 10th 2025, and will hit theatres on February 27th 2026.

We’ll be on the lookout for any further developments until then.
