According to some promo art spotted by Collider at Licensing Expo, it appears that Netflix’s upcoming live-action series Wednesday will be released this autumn!
Rising horror star Jenna Ortega (Scream, X) is playing Wednesday Addams in the series, which comes to us from director Tim Burton. Catherine Zeta-Jones is playing Morticia, with Luis Guzmán portraying Gomez. Christina Ricci, who famously portrayed Wednesday in the 90s live-action Addams Family movies, will also make an appearance.
Described as a “sleuthing, supernaturally infused mystery charting Wednesday Addams’ years as a student at Nevermore Academy,” Wednesday will see the gloomy character attempt to master her emerging psychic ability, thwart a monstrous killing spree that has terrorized the local town, and solve the supernatural mystery that embroiled her parents 25 years ago—all while navigating her new and very tangled relationships at Nevermore.”
Writers and showrunners on the series are Alfred Gough and Miles Millar.
