Get ready to snap those fingers—because Netflix has officially renewed its record-breaking series Wednesday for a second season!
Alfred Gough and Miles Millar serve as writers and showrunners on the Addams Family-based series, which premiered back in November and quickly became Netflix’s third most popular series of all time. Described as “a sleuthing, supernaturally infused mystery,” the first season charted “Wednesday’s attempts to master her emerging psychic ability, thwart a monstrous killing spree that has terrorized the local town, and solve the supernatural mystery that embroiled her parents 25 years ago—all while navigating her new and very tangled relationships.”
Rising scream queen Jenna Ortega (X, Scream) stars as the eponymous Wednesday. Luis Guzmán and Catherine Zeta-Jones play Gomez and Morticia Addams respectively, with Fred Armisen appearing as the quirky Uncle Fester. Season One also saw Christina Ricci—who played Wednesday Addams in the 90s film adaptations—appearing in a new role.
“It’s been incredible to create a show that has connected with people across the world,” Gough and Millar said in a statement. “Thrilled to continue Wednesday’s tortuous journey into season two. We can’t wait to dive head first into another season and explore the kooky spooky world of Nevermore.”
