The socially-relevant and quite brilliant Black Mirror was recently picked up by Netflix and it has now been confirmed that we will be getting 12 brand spanking new episodes of the show. The bizarre and gripping show comes from Charlie Brooker and has had 2 seasons, so far. If you haven’t seen them yet, then I do urge you to do so. It’s one of the most mind-bending and enthralling shows I’ve ever seen and it comes from England, hurray!
When speaking about this news, Charlie Brooker has said, “It’s all very exciting — a whole new bunch of Black Mirror episodes on the most fitting platform imaginable. Netflix connects us with a global audience so that we can create bigger, stranger, more international and diverse stories than before, whilst maintaining that ‘Black Mirror’ feel. I just hope none of these new story ideas come true.” I’m sure we’re all hoping that, too. The great thing about Black Mirror was how socially-relevant it was; despite the insanity featured in many of the episodes, you can sort of imagine them happening in real life.
Brooker will be returning as the executive producer and has already made a start on writing the episodes, which will begin production later this year. Netflix is a great platform for Black Mirror and means the show can easily reach audiences around the globe. I can’t wait to see what’s to come, and keep your eyes peeled for the specific air date details.
