It seems that each week now, the release slate for 2025 is getting more crowded with genre releases.
Now, Netflix have decided to join in on the fun, as they announced their fourth Fear Street instalment will land in 2025.
Entitled Fear Street: Prom Queen, the film will take place in 1988, between the events of Fear Street: 1978 and Fear Street: 1994.
Netflix described the project as follows in an official logline:
“Welcome back to Shadyside. In this next instalment of the blood-soaked Fear Street franchise, prom season at Shadyside High is underway, and the school’s wolfpack of It Girls is busy with its usual sweet and vicious campaigns for the crown. But when a gutsy outsider is unexpectedly nominated to the court, and the other girls start mysteriously disappearing, the class of ’88 is suddenly in for one hell of a prom night.”
A fun poster was also released, showing the school announcement board reading “Shadyside High School Senior Prom ’88.” However, most of the letters remain in the dark, with only “DIE” being visible. Beneath the board, a bloody axe sits, hinting at the horror within the school.
Fear Street: Prom Queen will star veteran actors such as The Conjuring’s Lili Taylor, American Pie’s Chris Klein, and Katherine Waterston of Alien: Covenant. They will be joined by a slew of up-and-coming actors including Ella Rubin, David Iacono, and India Fowler.
Based on the wildly popular Fear Street anthology books by R.L. Stine, Prom Queen is an adaption of the 15th book in the series. Now mostly out of print, the tales usually go for quite some money on sites such as eBay.
There is still no set release date for Fear Street: Prom Queen, but going by the previous movies, a summer 2025 release seems likely.
We’ll report any further confirmation as soon as it arrives.
