Netflix has acquired global rights to the new Texas Chainsaw Massacre film produced by Fede Alvarez (Evil Dead)!
Chris Thomas Devlin wrote the script for the David Blue Garcia-directed film, which was produced by Alvarez, Rodolfo Sayagues, Ian Henkel, Pat Cassidy, and Kim Henkel, the latter of whom co-wrote Tobe Hooper’s 1974 original. A direct sequel to that film, this new movie will reportedly feature both Leatherface as an old man and the return of Sally Hardesty. According to The Holywood Reporter, it “takes place years after the shocking events of the original, in a setting where Leatherface hasn’t been seen or heard from since… the film seeks to pick up where the Hooper and Kim Henkel film initially left off, bringing the most notorious horror franchise back to life in the same bold and provocative manner that it was first introduced to the world.”
Olwen Fouéré (Mandy) plays Sally Hardesty in the new film, with Mark Burnham (Lowlife) playing Leatherface. The cast also includes Elsie Fisher (Castle Rock), Sarah Yarkin (Happy Death Day 2U), Moe Dunford (Vikings), Alice Krige (Gretel & Hansel), Jacob Latimore (The Maze Runner), Nell Hudson (Outlander), Jessica Allain (Thriller), Sam Douglas (Colombiana), William Hope (Aliens), and Jolyon Coy (Mr Selfridge).
