The march of nostalgic, ‘80s-styled horror continues (and who are we to argue?) with Torey Haas’ The Neon Dead, which is headed for a US home release from Wild Eye Releasing.
Made on a budget of less than $20,000, the film marks the feature directorial debut for Haas, a visual effects artist on V/H/S Viral among others. It stars Marie Barker (Horror Hotel: The Webseries), Greg Garrison (who also produces), Dylan Schettina and Mark Ashworth (Cell).
Synopsis:
An unemployed college graduate hires two paranormal exterminators to combat a monster infestation in her new home. But their prodding into an evil out of their depth unleashes an ancient demon. He and his army of monsters quickly overrun the home, intent on possessing every human they make contact with.
The Neon Dead will be available on DVD and On Demand from September 13th. The DVD will include a feature-length commentary with writer/director Haas, bonus scenes, two monster shorts (First Date, Troll Picnic) directed by Haas and a creature profile. In the meantime, check out the gloriously colourful trailer.
