Writer-director Nikyatu Jusu’s Nanny won the U.S. Dramatic Grand Jury Prize at this year’s Sundance Film Festival, and it’s soon coming to our screens. After being acquired by Blumhouse and Amazon, the film is getting a theatrical release on November 23rd before coming to Amazon Prime Video on December 16th.
In Nanny, a Senegalese immigrant nanny works for a privileged couple in NYC. As she prepares for the arrival of the son she left behind in West Africa, a violent presence invades her reality, threatening the American Dream she is painstakingly piecing together.
“We’re proud to have writer/director Nikyatu Jusu’s Nanny as part of our slate for Amazon,” Jason Blum said in a statement. “It’s a gem of a horror film that combines impressive filmmaking and powerful storytelling, and is worthy of the Grand Jury Prize it was awarded at Sundance.”
Anna Diop (Us) stars in Nanny alongside Michelle Monaghan (The Craft: Legacy), Sinqua Walls (Teen Wolf), Morgan Spector (The Mist), and Rose Decker (Evil). Check out the film’s unsettling trailer below!
