MOVIE BASED ON VIRAL EVENT FLOP “WILLY’S CHOCOLATE EXPERIENCE” ALLEGEDLY IN THE WORKS

Posted on: March 15th, 2024

If there’s one thing you can depend on the horror genre for, it’s that it will draw inspiration from almost anything.

Lately we’ve had a glut of Fairie Tale based projects find their way into the genre due to lapsing rights. But… what about Rold Dahl’s Willy Wonka? He was kind of scary, right?

Well, whilst we won’t be getting a horror movie featuring him just yet, we will be getting a project born from Willy’s Chocolate Experience.

Now, if you’re asking what on earth that is, don’t worry, we’ve got you covered! Willy’s Chocolate Experience was an event that took place in Glasgow, Scotland at the end of February, and it has since gone viral for all the wrong reasons.

Whilst their website promised children “giant sweeties” and a “magical tunnel experience with iconic characters,” the result was… sub-par to say the least. When families showed up to the sparse warehouse, they were greeted by a few sad decorations and actors that left children in tears.

Later it was uncovered that the event had been scripted entirely by A.I. in a quick attempt to cash-in, complete with misleading website images. The most galling addition by the A.I. was the creation of a character named “The Unknown.” This figure, clad in a silver mask and black cloak, is said to be a “chocolate maker who lives in the factory walls,” according to the nonsensical A.I. generated script.

Needless to say, when this distinctly un-Wonka like character appeared, the children in attendance were terrified. You can catch a viral video of the actor in character below.

So, now, the viral flop has given birth to a character about to have his own movie, according to reports. The Unknown is heading to the big screen courtesy of Kaledonia Pictures, and hoping to release before the end of the year.

According to the company, the movie details the following:
“A renowned illustrator and his wife are haunted by the tragic death of their son, Charlie. Desperate to escape their grief, the couple leave the world behind for the remote Scottish Highlands – where an unknowable evil awaits them.”

Of the viral event that gave them the inspiration, the company had the following to say:
“We are excited to begin production and look forward to sharing more with you as soon as possible. We are actually only a few miles from the event, so it is quite surreal to see Glasgow all over social media, worldwide.”

So, you really can find inspiration in anything these days, huh? We’ll keep an eye on this one and see if “The Unknown” terrifies general audiences as much as it did those poor kids… They only wanted some chocolate!
