With the Resident Evil series all done and dusted (until the upcoming reboot, that is), Milla Jovovich has left her signature genre role which has kept her occupied the last 15 years. Going from heroine to villain, she is currently in final talks to star as the Blood Queen in Neil Marshall’s upcoming Hellboy reboot.
Jovovich will star opposite Stranger Things’ David Harbour as Hellboy and Ian McShane as Professor Broom in Hellboy: Rise of the Blood Queen, which is due to begin filming next month.
With Marshall (The Descent, Dog Soldiers) at the helm, hopes are high for the re-imagining, which is aiming for an R-rating, and is described by writer Christopher Golden as “…a darker, more gruesome version” than Guillermo del Toro’s takes on Mike Mignola’s comics. Mignola co-wrote the new film alongside Golden and Andrew Cosby.
Hellboy: Rise of the Blood Queen will be with us sometime in 2018.
