Whilst his Exorcist reboot continues to be the talk of Hollywood, we’re taking a break from reporting on that to bring you an exciting update on another Mike Flanagan project.
According to actress Katee Sackhoff, Flanagan’s series adaption of Stephen King’s debut novel Carrie is set to release in October of this year.
The Oculus actress is set to appear in one episode of Flanagan’s Carrie adaption, and seemingly confirmed the October debut at a recent fan expo saying:
“October of 2026, ‘Carrie’ comes out on Amazon. You guys are in for a treat. It’s very good!”
According to an official logline, Flanagan’s interpretation of Carrie details:
“In a bold and timely reimagining of the story of misfit high-schooler Carrie White, who has spent her life in seclusion with her domineering mother. After her father’s sudden and untimely death, Carrie finds herself contending with the alien landscape of public High School, a bullying scandal that shatters her community, and the emergence of mysterious telekinetic powers.”
Curse of Chucky star Summer H. Howell is playing the titular role of Carrie White, alongside other cast members including Matthew Lillard, Kate Siegel, Michael Trucco, Arthur Conti, and Heather Graham.
Based on the debut novel of the same name by Stephen King, Flanagan’s series will be the fourth on-screen adaption of Carrie.
Flanagan is listed as the director of Episode One, but is not expected to direct all eight episodes of the Amazon MGM show.
Expected to debut on MGM+, now we know Carrie will be hitting screens just in time for Halloween. Hopefully we’ll have further updates on the series soon, so watch this space!
