There may be an inhuman creature in the trailer for The Shape of Water, but it is not he who is the monster in this tale. From director Guillermo del Toro (Pan’s Labyrinth, Pacific Rim), comes this fairytale fantasy story that blends Pan’s Labyrinth, Beauty and the Beast and The Creature from the Black Lagoon to craft a visually splendid tale of friendship, communication and the human condition.
Watch the trailer below and immerse yourself in the stunning and striking imagery and gorgeous cinematography of a seemingly heart-felt tale of beauty and horror. Some of the moments are breath-taking. Plus, Michael Shannon makes one hell of a great villain, so we can’t wait to see more from his character.
The Shape of Water follows a mute woman named Elisa (Sally Hawkins) whose life is changed forever when she discovers a secret experiment at the high-security government lab that she works in. She forms a unique bond with the experiment; an inhuman being that sees past her imperfections.
The Shape of Water additionally stars Octavia Spencer, Michael Stuhlbarg, Doug Jones and Richard Jenkins. The film will be released on 8th December 2017.
