We recently reported that Bradley Cooper had been cast in Deeper; a supernatural thriller from writer Max Landis (Chronicle, Victor Frankenstein), but rights were still up for grabs. However, we can now confirm that MGM has secured the rights to the film, beating their competition that included Paramount, Fox Searchlight and Odd Lot Entertainment.
Deeper follows a former astronaut (Cooper) who is hired to take a submersible to the lowest point in the ocean. Spooky goings-on hinder the mission and Cooper’s character must battle psychological and physical forces to ensure his survival.
Deeper will be directed by Kornel Mundruczo (Tender Son: the Frankenstein Project, White God) and produced by David Goyer, Kevin Turen, Russell Ackerman and, also, Max Landis.
