Jon Turteltaub’s (Cool Running, National Treasure) Meg has now been retitled to The Meg for Warner Bros. It’s only a tiny tweak, but it does heighten the sense of foreboding that was only subtly hinted at in the previous title.
It’s been an up-and-down ride for The Meg, with Eli Roth jumping off-board the directing duties before Turteltaub was hired. The release date was also recently pushed back to summer 2018 from March 2018, which isn’t always a good sign. Let’s hope all this waiting is going to be worth it, eh?
Based on the novel by Steve Alten – titled Meg: A Novel of Deep Terror – The Meg stars Jesssica McNamee (The Loved Ones), Bingbing Li (Resident Evil: Retribution), Ruby Rose (Orange is the New Black) and Rainn Wilson (House of 1000 Corpses, Cooties).
The Meg will be released on 10th August 2018.
