After acquiring the rights to Anne Rice’s The Vampire Chronicles series and The Lives of the Mayfair Witches series, as well as the crossover novels, AMC has a few small-screen adaptations in the works. Casting is well underway on an upcoming Interview with the Vampires TV series, and now we’ve got our first casting news out of the Mayfair Witches adaptation too, with Alexandra Daddario (Texas Chainsaw 3D, We Summon the Darkness) signing on to star.
Variety reporters that Daddario will play the lead role of Rowan, “an intuitive young neurosurgeon who discovers that she is the unlikely heir to a family of witches. As she grapples with her newfound powers, she must contend with a sinister presence that has haunted her family for generations.”
Esta Spalding serves as showrunner on Mayfair Witches and is executive producing alongside Michelle Ashford. Eight episodes of the series are expected to premiere later this year.
